Cultural Heritage Month is Coming to Walthamstow!
We’re incredibly excited to announce that Cultural Heritage Month is coming to 17 & Central this spring! From 11 May to 10 June 2026, we’re teaming up with Cultural Fashion & Arts CIC to bring an inspiring, colourful and community‑driven celebration to Walthamstow. During the month, you’ll be able to enjoy a vibrant programme of events hosted at CRATE Walthamstow, our buzzing food hall packed with global flavours.
What is Cultural Heritage Month?
Launched at Hackney Museum in November 2025, Cultural Heritage Month is a UK‑wide celebration of culture, identity and community. The month is all about bringing people together through food, fashion, art, music, storytelling and shared cultural experiences. It creates a special moment where communities across the country can proudly share their traditions and learn from one another.
As Candy‑Ellie Graham, Founder and Creative Director of Cultural Fashion & Arts, shared at last year’s launch:
“Over the past four years, we’ve consistently heard that people want more space, visibility and opportunity to share their culture beyond a single moment or community. Cultural Heritage Month brings that together, creating a shared national moment where communities can stand proudly side by side.”
This month‑long celebration builds on the success of Cultural Fashion & Arts’ previous programmes, including Cultural Style Week (21–27 May), which encourages people to embrace and celebrate their heritage through personal style and creativity. We’re thrilled that parts of Cultural Style Week will also be showcased here at the centre.
Candy also shared why Walthamstow holds a special place in her heart:
“Growing up in East London, Walthamstow Market was always a place where different cultures came together, and I have very fond memories from my childhood. 17 & Central carries that same energy today, making it an ideal setting for Cultural Heritage Month celebrations. We’re excited to celebrate the vibrant communities here and to bring some of our flagship Cultural Style Week fashion shows for all to experience and enjoy.”
