FABULOUS FATHER’S DAY GIFT IDEAS FROM 17 & CENTRAL
This year, Father’s Day falls on Sunday 15 June, which isn’t actually that far away. Whether you’re buying a present for your dad, husband or the father figure in your life, we’ve got gift ideas aplenty so there’s no need to panic. And guess what? You can get them all at 17 & Central, so shopping couldn’t be easier.
Food, glorious food
If food’s the way to your father’s heart (and let’s face it, most men LOVE a good feed), then take him to CRATE for a slap-up meal. With seven different vendors, there’s something for everyone and you don’t even need to opt for the same kind of food – as long as you pick up the bill. Let him choose between burgers, pizza, pasta, tacos, chicken wings and loaded fries and then take it out to terrace if it’s sunny on Father’s Day.
A new bar – The Drift – has recently landed at CRATE so treat him to a beer, wine or even a cheeky cocktail or two with your meal. There are some amazing offers on cocktails, including 2 for £15 every day during Happy Hours, so you don’t need to worry about blowing the budget.
Food for thought
Not got the funds for a meal out, but like the idea of treating dad to some lovely food? How about creating a robust, gentleman’s afternoon tea at home. You can get everything you need from Lidl or Asda.
Swap delicate finger sandwiches for doorstop butties or fat wraps, replace pretty pastries with pork pies, scotch eggs and sausage rolls and serve savoury scones with chutney instead of fruit scones with cream and jam. Of course, you’ll need more than one type of cake (this is your dad we’re talking about) so add big slabs of brownie and hearty chunks of carrot cake. Wash it all down with tea, coffee, beer or a glass of fizz.
Beach read
Summer’s on the way so if your dad loves to dive into a good book on the beach, head for Waterstones or The Works and get him a meaty novel or two to take on holiday. Our top pick is ‘Precipice’ by acclaimed author, Robert Harris.
Not into fiction?
Check out the biographies or choose something related to one of his hobbies. If he loves to cook, then we’d recommend chef, Thomas Straker’s ‘Food You Want to Eat’ cookbook, which is full of uncomplicated recipes and was an instant Sunday Times bestseller.
While you’re in Waterstones, don’t forget they do a great range of stationery (dad might need a new notebook for work), as well as plenty of cards, wrapping paper and gift bags for those all-important finishing touches.
Brew crew
Does your dad love good brew? Whether he’s a tea or coffee drinker, you can bet he’ll love a gift card from his favourite coffee shop. We’re completely spoilt for choice at the centre, with Black Sheep Coffee, Costa, Starbucks, Pret a Manger and Perky Blenders so try and find out which one he likes best.
And if a gift card isn’t your thing, then how about a new mug, reusable cup, or a bag of speciality coffee? Perky Blenders also offers a coffee subscription service – a great way to make sure they never run out of the good stuff and remind them on a daily basis, who’s the favourite child. 😉
Affordable yet adorable
Treat dad without breaking the bank with cute gifts he’ll love. There are loads to choose from at The Card Factory – most of which are under a tenner. Keep it classic with the 4-pack of Amazing Dad Socks, priced at just £3.99, speak to his caveman side with a £5.99 King of the Grill Apron and Keyring Set or help him kick back and relax with a Just for Dad Pint Glass, Coaster and Savoury Snack Set. We also loved the Wooden Crate and Beer Opener Set which is only £4.99 and is brilliant for dad’s snacks. Supersize this gift by adding a bag of his favourite crisps, popcorn or sweets and don’t forget to grab a card while you’re at it!
Pampered Pa
Does your dad love a nice skincare product or a spot of male pampering? Boots, Superdrug and Bodycare all have a great range of grooming products to keep dad looking and feeling his best. The Men’s Edit Beauty Box from Boots caught our eye. A limited-edition gift box, it’s full of well-loved, iconic brands and includes a Liz Earle moisturiser, Barber Pro sheet mask, Dapper Dan Signature Style Shaper, Bulldog deodorant and Kiehls toner, as well as other premium products.
Not fussed about facials but into fragrance? How about getting him a new scent from The Perfume Shop or The Fragrance Shop? We’ve done a bit of digging and both stores have some amazing offers and discounts for Father’s Day – there’s up to 60% off selected lines at The Fragrance Shop, so now’s the time to buy!
Summer style
Could your dad’s wardrobe use a reboot? Father’s Day is the perfect excuse to get him some new threads. River Island, Peacocks, TK Maxx and Choice are full of summer outfits and we’ve spotted some lovely shorts and t-shirts in store – all very reasonably priced. If a new tee is out of reach, then how about a cool accessory instead?
Fit gift
Is your dad always talking about getting into shape, but hasn’t got round to doing anything about it? How about clubbing together with your siblings and getting him a gym membership or at the very least paying for a few PT sessions to get him going? The Gym Group offers flexible packages from as little as £24.99 per month, which might just be the encouragement he needs to get him off the sofa and hitting the weights.
We’ll be sharing more Father’s Day gift ideas on our social platforms so don’t forget to give us a follow @17andCentral.
