GORGEOUS GIFTS FOR MUM THIS MOTHER’S DAY AT 17 & CENTRAL

GORGEOUS GIFTS FOR MUM THIS MOTHER’S DAY AT 17 & CENTRAL

Spring is on its way and so is Mother’s Day. If you’re wondering what to buy your mum or the mother figure in your life, look no further – at 17 & Central, we’ve got you covered. We’ve scoured the shops and have some beautiful suggestions, which she’s sure to love.

Make a note

For mums who LOVE stationery (and we know there are loads of them out there who just can’t resist a new notebook), head down to Waterstones, where they’ve got the most gorgeous range of notepads and pens. We love the V&A range, which currently features some stunning Japanese designs and William Morris prints. The Works is also a great place to search for stationery, as is Card Factory – we’re loving the’ Always Made with Love’ gift set, which includes a floral meal planner with space for shopping lists, a pen and a matching tea towel.

Scentsational presents

Has your mum got a favourite fragrance or signature scent, or does she love trying new perfumes? There are scents aplenty in the Centre and fragrance always makes a thoughtful Mother’s Day gift for a very special lady. The Perfume Shop has some brilliant seasonal offers, with even better deals for members, and you’ll find a wide range of fragrances at Boots, Superdrug and TK Maxx too. For something a little different, follow your nose to Cochani – they’ve got some divine scents, which are as unique as your lovely mum.

Dinner date

Could your mum use a break from the cooking? Why not treat her to a meal at our Turkish restaurant, Gokyuzu or take her up to CRATE, where’s she’ll have the choice of seven different vendors (hello, international cuisine). And the beauty of our food hall is that you can both choose different meals, so if you fancy a burger and a beer and she’s craving a creamy carbonara and a glass of wine, consider it done. Oh, and if mum loves a cocktail, grab a bar stool at The Drift and let their mixologist make her something fabulous while you wait!!

DIY afternoon tea

Can’t afford to eat out but want to treat your mum to a special feast, how about creating an afternoon tea at home? If this sounds like something she’d adore, then head down to Asda or Lidl for all the essentials. You’ll need several types of finger sandwich, scones with cream and jam and a delicious assortment of cakes. If you’re a budding baker, then you can make your own cakes, but if that’s a step too far (and you’re tight on time), then both supermarkets have a delectable selection of cakes, traybakes and other sweet treats. Add tea, coffee and maybe a bottle of fizz, because bubbly afternoon teas are ALWAYS the best! And if you’re pushing the boat out, take a trip to TK Maxx for a showstopping cake stand so your afternoon can take centre stage on your dining table.

Pamper present

Would your mum love a little me-time? We’ve got three amazing clinics in the Centre – Ria London, Cleo Clinic and EverySkin – which all offer a range of indulgent treatments to get her looking and feeling fabulous as we head into spring. Rather than trying to choose something specific, why not plump for a gift voucher so your mum can pick the perfect treatment for her?

On a tight budget? No problem! Boots and Superdrug offer purse-friendly products so you can put together a mini pamper package for your mum to enjoy at home.

Sweet and sentimental

Card Factory has done it again! This year’s Mother’s Day gifts are gorgeous, great value and sure to bring a smile to her face. There’s something for everyone – they’ve even got gifts for grandmas and dog mums too, which we love. There are some cute cuddly toys – the Jellycat-inspired ‘You Brighten Up Every Day’ set of two flower toys, the Tea Pot and the Me and Mum Bunnies are our current faves – and they’ve got every kind of mum mug you could imagine. Other sweet gifts include hanging hearts, trinket boxes, candles, cushions and reed diffusers. Go in and have browse – there’s sure to be something that’s just right for your mum – and don’t forget to buy a card while you’re at it!

Could it be matcha?

If your mum can’t manage without her morning matcha or afternoon caffeine fix, then how about buying her a reusable cup from Costa or Perky Blenders so she’ll never get caught short? They’ve both got a stunning selection of travel cups, mugs and water bottles (if she likes her two litres a day) – we’re big fans of the waffle cups in Costa and the Leytonstone High Road mugs in Perky Blenders – if you’re a local, you’ll love these!

Supersize the gift by adding some syrups, a packet of ground coffee or a gift card (you’ll get these in Costa, Perky Blenders and Black Sheep).
