Love Local: 17&Central’s Valentine’s Day Gift Guide

Love Local: 17&Central’s Valentine’s Day Gift Guide

Love is in the air at 17 & Central with some fabulous retailer displays across the centre. And just in case you were wondering, its not all hearts and flowers, we’ve spotted some gorgeous homeware and unique gifts too.

Heart and home

If you want to transform your home into a love nest, then head down to TK Maxx where they’ve got some adorable ornaments. Bows are still a big trend (and one which works well with Valentine’s), they’ve got some pretty pink vases (perfect for all the flowers you’re going to get) and the white dog heart throw is too cute to leave behind. There’s even a heart casserole cast iron dish, which would look great on your dining table.

Get flirty with fragrance

Fragrance is a classic Valentine’s gift. Show you know them by gifting their favourite fragrance or surprise them with a romantic new scent. At this time of year both The Fragrance Shop and The Perfume Shop have some amazing offers, but of course, we’re completely spoilt in the Centre with Boots, Superdrug and TK Maxx also selling perfume and aftershave. If you’re looking for something a little more unusual, try Cochani’s ‘Elegance’ or ‘Midnight Noir’ scents – they’re unisex and smell divine.

Woo them with words

If words are the way to their heart, how about a book that’s chosen with love – maybe a romantic collection of poetry, a classic love story or some chick lit they can curl up with on the sofa? Waterstones and The Works both have a great selection of romance novels. Wuthering Heights hits the big screen on 11 February and is sure to set hearts racing, so how about buying them the book? There are some gorgeous covers out there, including one featuring the stars of the film, Margot Robbie and Jacob Elordi.

Cute cocktail date

Cosy up at CRATE with a selection of Valentine’s-themed cocktails specially created by The Drift’s chief mixologist. We got to sample a few the other day and can highly recommend the fruity and flirtatious Valentine’s Lemon Drop and Raspberry Sour Kiss. And if cocktails lead to food, then you’re in the right place. With seven street food vendors, you’ll be able to find something that hits the spot.

Pamper pack

Nothing says Valentine’s quite like a spa evening at home. Fill a box, basket, gift bag or even heart-themed glass or mug with some red and pink coloured spa evening essentials – we’re thinking gel eye masks, a luscious lip balm (for kissable lips), a relaxing face mask, some cute cherry-print socks, some hair clips, an indulgent bubble bath and a sweet-scented candle – because no romantic evening would be complete without candles, and a glass of fizz!

This is also a great idea if you’re getting the girls together for Galentine’s Day.

Sweet sensation

Speak to their sweeter side with a chocolate or candy gift they won’t be able to resist. Lindt’s Lindor range is the ultimate in romantic chocolate – who doesn’t love a box of the classic milk, strawberries and cream or raspberries and cream truffles? Or if they like their sweet treats a little more fun, how about a box of Candy Cuffs from The Card Factory.

Guy gifts

Struggling to find Valentine’s gifts for him (because we all know how difficult it to buy romantic gifts for guys)? Here are some of our favourite finds…

Your first stop should be The Card Factory, where they’ve got some fun – and very reasonably priced – gifts. Because it’s not what you spend, it’s the thought that counts. We LOVED the I Only Have Fries for You Cookie Duo set, Complete Package Boxer Shorts, Burning Love Hot Sauce set and the Feeling Cheeky Socks. They’ve got a great selection of Valentines-themed mugs and cuddly toys too if they’re a big softie at heart. The Capybara is beyond gorgeous!
